So as most of you know, I've headed back to work recently. It's ok, it's work. I like my job but still, it's work, not the freedom I've been used to having for the past 9 months. Grace however is doing great! The mornings are hectic (still trying to get our departure down to under 2 hours from wake-up! What I do in those two hours I couldn't tell you but they fly by!!)
Grace is with my parents for the time being and she's loving it. As soon as I get her out of the car seat, she starts her day by walking around outside looking for Grandma, who is usually busy in a garden somewhere around the yard. She then spends the rest of her day following them around, getting filthy dirty, pushing baby around in the stroller, "helping" with the gardens and getting Grandpa to take her for ride after ride on the Gator/tractor. She's loving it and coming home exhausted every night!
Today for the first time she didn't protest or need a distraction in order for me to leave. I called her over to say good-bye and asked for a kiss. Grace smiled, kissed me and then took off to find Grandpa, no hesitation, no tears, just a kiss and a big smile and off she went. Sigh, I love it, it's the independence and confidence I want to see in her, but still it's a little bittersweet for me. My baby's growing up so fast!

Suzanne,
I read your words and they are exactly the same as mine 6 years ago!! My mom and dad also took care of my daughter a lot - they still do. I go to university (trying to finish my degree) and they keep her one night per week (while I'm at school). My parents are 81 and 70 and because of this, they have created such a special bond with her and her with them. It is precious and I hope that she keeps this forever in her heart!! I am also a single mom, so my dad played a super special role in her life. She insisted to call him dad from ages 4 to 5.5, even though I would say Grand-Papa (grand-dad) - because she didn't understand why she didn't have a father and wanted one... He thought that was funny - but in a sense, I think he LOVED IT!! I hope that your parents stay healthy and capable as long as they can, as I hope mine do to... as I wish that the girls have them in their lives for a long time - so they can remember them! Furthermore, one of the things that I find, is that my daughter (who turns 8 in June) is sensitive when it comes to her grand-parents and it's teaching her "respect" and "being there for others" (she is slowly seeing all the things they do for us - and I tell her - one day we will need to do all this for them!!)... it's a precious relationship, a precious bond!!! :)
I love reading your blog, 'cause it brings me down memory lane!!!

Mon to Léa-Jade (almost 8)
awww! so cute. I'm sure your parents are keeping Grace busy! K
Two hours???? We've got it down to 20 minutes!!! Lol. And I have 2!!!
Good thing summer is only 19 days away, huh? 😄
I don't know what I do in those 2 hours Sunshine, but somehow it takes 2 hours to get out the door. Our morning starts with a diaper change and bottle, a snuggle and a few books, there's at least half an hour right there. Then by the time we eat breakfast, usually do another diaper change, get dressed, hair and teeth brushed, etc and get organized for the car 2 hours has gone by!!!! I've considered sleeping in my clothes and possibly leaving the car running over night, maybe that would help????LOL
thanks Diane, I'm glad you are enjoying the blog! Grace definitely has a special bond with her grandparents, especially since she only has one set. I'm so thankful that they live close and I have such a great opportunity to have them be such a big part of her life.
Glad to hear she's doing so well! Yay Grace!! Sounds like her days are filled with fun, adventures and most of all, love!
You probably don't want to know almost 3 years in we still need 2 hours from wake-up to getting out the door. Oye! :o)
It gets better ladies!!! My daughter is almost 8, and we get up at 6:20 and are out the door by 7:45... we are making good time now!!! haha
